Inter, the champions of Serie A, are edging closer to signing Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez, as the two clubs have agreed on a transfer fee for the 26-year-old player. Martinez is nearing the end of his contract with Genoa, and the club is looking to sell him before he becomes a free agent.
Initially, Genoa proposed a cash plus player deal for Martinez, but Inter preferred a cash-only settlement. After some negotiation, it seems that both parties have found a resolution, with Inter set to pay an initial €13M for Martinez, with the potential for bonuses and add-ons to increase the final fee to €15M.
While there are still a few details to finalize, reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that the deal should be completed by the weekend. This would allow Martinez to join his new teammates at Inter’s summer training camp in early July.
