Michelle Klieger is the president of Stratagerm Consulting, a food and agricultural consulting firm. She is an economist and business strategist who works with a variety of clients in the global seed industry, ag tech companies, conventional and non-conventional agriculture firms, and philanthropic foundations. Her work takes her around the world, helping industry leaders manage and grow their global businesses.

One of Michelle’s key roles is helping clients find, access, and leverage funding and financing to support their vision of a more economically and environmentally sustainable system. She conducts research, identifies constraints, develops alternatives, and evaluates the economic impact of potential changes for her clients.

Michelle’s passion for supporting small and medium-sized producers and agribusinesses led to the creation of her podcast, The Grower & The Economist, which offers relevant economic and business advice. She is also the author of The Demise of Free Trade and a professor of Economics at Bentley University. Michelle holds a Master of Science in Agriculture Economics from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

She serves on the Seed World U.S. editorial board to gain a broader understanding of the seed industry and its various expertise. Michelle believes it is important for individuals and companies within the seed industry to have a comprehensive understanding of the sector as a whole to achieve success. She sees Seed World as a valuable resource that provides a bigger picture while still remaining seed industry-specific.

Michelle loves the seed industry for its impact on the broader food and agricultural sectors. She recognizes the huge influence that seeds and genetics have on production, distribution, and end consumers, although many people may not fully understand this impact.

Looking to the future, Michelle sees a big opportunity for the seed industry in continuing to tell its story and driving innovation. By highlighting the importance of seeds and genetics and fostering innovation in the industry, she believes there is great potential for growth and positive impact on agriculture as a whole.
