Introducing Microsoft’s Surface Laptop and Surface Pro, the First Laptops in the ‘Copilot+ PC’ Category

Microsoft has recently introduced new Surface laptops that belong to the Copilot+ PC computer category. This category includes other devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy Book4 Edge and Asus’ Vivobook S 15. The Copilot+ PC category represents a significant milestone for the Windows operating system as it marks a new chapter in AI innovation on devices.

The two Surface devices announced by Microsoft are the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, set to be released on June 18 with prices starting at $999. The new Surface Laptop features a sleek design with slim bezels, an HDR touchscreen, and a haptic panel. It comes in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes with a battery life of up to 20 hours on the 13-inch model and up to 22 hours on the 15-inch model.

On the other hand, the new Surface Pro is a two-in-one device with an optional OLED screen and an ultra-wide field of view camera. It is powered by the Snapdragon X Elite and Plus processors and offers a battery life of up to 14 hours. The Surface Pro Flex keyboard is designed to be versatile for both on and off-screen use, integrating a haptic touchpad and serving as a charger for the Surface Slim Pen optical stylus.

Samsung has also unveiled its first Copilot+ PC device, the Galaxy Book4 Edge, offering a hyper-connected mobile AI ecosystem. Powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor, the Galaxy Book4 Edge features the ‘Galaxy AI’ generative AI feature set, WiFi 7 support, up to 22 hours of battery life, and a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rates. It will be available in 14-inch and 16-inch screen sizes starting in June.

Asus has introduced its new Vivobook S 15 device, part of the Copilot+ PC category and powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor. It boasts a 15.6-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,620 pixels. The Vivobook S 15 integrates the AiSense IR camera to detect user presence and attention on the screen, with a battery life of up to 18 hours.

Additionally, Acer will be joining the Copilot+ PC category with the Swift 14 AI, Lenovo has confirmed two devices – Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad T14s Gen 6, and Dell has announced five computers including Latitude 5455, Latitude 7455, Inspiron 14, Inspiron 14 Plus, and XPS 13 9345 – all featuring Snapdragon X Elite or X Plus processors.
