Investigator from Northampton County Graduates from Virginia Forensic Science Academy

The Virginia Forensic Science Academy recently completed its One Hundred and Eleventh Session, with Investigator Barry W. Randall from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office successfully meeting all requirements and graduating on March 29, 2024. The Academy aims to provide advanced training to qualified crime scene search officers, teaching them to properly identify, document, collect, and preserve physical evidence found at crime scenes for laboratory examination. Participants also gain hands-on experience with the capabilities and limitations of modern forensic laboratories in analyzing a wide range of materials that can be used as evidence in criminal cases.

The nine-week course not only equips officers with the necessary background knowledge but also practical application techniques that, when combined with their previous experience, enable them to utilize forensic sciences effectively in their departments and within the Criminal Justice System of the Commonwealth. Investigator Randall’s graduation from the Academy is not only a personal achievement but also a milestone that will enhance the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office’s ability to serve the community. Having undergone this rigorous training, Investigator Randall is now better equipped to contribute to solving crimes and upholding justice in the region.
