Investment Case for the WHO: 2025-2028

The 77th World Health Assembly will feature a Strategic Roundtable where Member States will vote on approving WHO’s new strategy for 2025-2028, known as the 14th General Programme of Work (GPW14). This strategy, developed through collaboration between Member States and partners facilitated by the WHO Secretariat, aims to accelerate progress in health and well-being worldwide. By 2028, it is expected that the implementation of GPW14 will have saved 40 million lives through collective efforts in the field of health.

In order to effectively execute this strategy, WHO requires predictable and sustainable funding. The organization’s new Investment Case, titled “All for Health, Health for All,” will be launched during this event. This document will showcase WHO’s unique value proposition, policy commitments, and transformative potential under GPW14, drawing on input from Member States, stakeholders, and global health partners. Participants can expect to be presented with compelling data and examples of WHO’s global and national impact.

The session is scheduled to take place at the UN Palais des Nations, Room XX on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 13:00 to 14:15 CEST. The roundtable discussions will revolve around the overarching theme of the World Health Assembly: “All for health, health for all,” as well as the WHO Investment Round. This will provide an opportunity for attendees to reflect on the achievements of the organization, as well as the current and future challenges faced in global health.
