The XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals local organising committee recently released a promotional video that features stunning images from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and a welcome message from Massimiliano Fedriga, Friuli Giulia Venezia region president. The video made its debut at the WBSC Europe Congress in Benalmádena, Málaga, Spain on Saturday.
The Stadio Comunale in Castions di Strada will play host to the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals from 15 to 21 July, with four games scheduled each day. Tickets for the event are currently on sale.
Friuli Giulia Venezia region president Fedriga expressed enthusiasm for hosting the World Cup event, stating, “It is in this beautiful and hospitable land that the Women’s Softball World Cup will take place.” He also emphasized the region’s readiness to welcome all participants and spectators, both on and off the diamond.
The eight Finals’ teams have been divided into two groups for the upcoming competition. Group A includes world No. 1 USA, No. 5 Canada, host No. 6 Italy, and No. 15 China. Group B features No. 2 Japan, No. 3 Puerto Rico, No. 8 Netherlands, and No. 10 Australia.
The XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup will be noteworthy for several reasons. Not only does it mark the first time that Italy is hosting a Softball World Cup, but it is also only the second time the Women’s Softball World Cup has visited Europe. Last year, Ireland and Spain joined Italy as hosts of the Group Stage, adding to the international appeal of the event.
