Following reports that Caitlin Clark was excluded from the USA women’s basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Indiana Fever claimed that this snub “woke a monster.” However, the monster was not evident in Monday night’s game against the Connecticut Sun. After suffering their first loss of the 2024 WNBA season, the Sun bounced back with an 89-72 victory over the Fever.

In her last game, Clark seemed on the verge of a breakout performance, scoring 30 points and hitting seven 3-pointers. But against Connecticut, she struggled, finishing with only 10 points on 3-for-8 shooting. This marked one of her lowest scoring totals of her rookie season, and she left the game in the third quarter after drawing her fourth foul.

DiJonai Carrington led the Sun with 22 points, while Alyssa Thomas grabbed 18 rebounds and DeWanna Bonner scored 17 points. Bonner also moved into 10th place on the WNBA’s all-time 3-point list. Despite the crowd’s chants for Clark, the Fever could not rally, with Aliyah Boston scoring 14 points and Lexie Hull adding 10.

With this loss, the Fever fell to 3-10 for the season and 2-5 on the road. They have lost all three games against Connecticut this season and will host the Atlanta Dream next. Meanwhile, the Sun improved to 10-1 and will face the Chicago Sky next on the road.
