NVIDIA Corporation has announced the early launch of the Israel-1 supercomputer, which is designed for scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence. It was launched two months ahead of schedule and is currently accessible only to company employees.
Once completed, Israel-1 will be the most powerful supercomputer in Israel and one of the most powerful in the world. It will have a performance of 8 exaflops for artificial intelligence and 130 petaflops for other scientific work such as nuclear imaging and meteorological research.
Jensen Huang, the company’s CEO, emphasized that Israel is home to leading artificial intelligence researchers and developers who are creating tools that will drive the next wave of AI advancements.
Additionally, at the end of May, NVIDIA announced its intention to create the Israel-1 supercomputer in Israel by the end of the year. The computer is expected to feature 2048 NVIDIA H100 80GB GPUs, 2560 BlueField-3 DPU processors, and 80 Spectrum-4 Ethernet switches. Mellanox-developed switches, which have been claimed to improve the performance of artificial intelligence platforms by 70%, will be in the system.
