Israel advises residents in ten additional areas of Rafah to evacuate immediately

The Israeli Army has issued orders for residents of ten sectors of the city of Rafah to evacuate immediately towards the west of the city. Additional orders have been issued for neighborhoods in the towns of Jabalia and Beit Lahia in the north of the enclave. The orders for Rafah affect specific sectors located near the border crossing with Egypt, urging residents to go to the Al Mawasi area in the southwest of the city. Similar orders have been given to residents of Jabalia and Beit Lahia to evacuate to shelters in western Gaza City.

The Israeli Army spokesperson, Colonel Avichay Adraee, warns that residents in these areas are in a dangerous combat zone as Hamas militias are attempting to rebuild their capabilities in the region. The military emphasizes the importance of heeding evacuation orders to protect themselves and their families from danger.

This latest warning comes after the Israeli war cabinet’s decision to continue the raid on Rafah, the last refuge for hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in Gaza. The offensive has forced nearly 110,000 people to flee once again, according to the UNRWA. Despite the Israeli Army’s claims of issuing advance warnings, UN officials view the orders as forced displacement contrary to international law.

The situation in Gaza remains precarious as residents are urged to evacuate to safer areas amidst ongoing military operations. The focus is on eliminating Hamas militants hidden in the region, but the impact on civilians cannot be ignored. It is essential for humanitarian considerations to be taken into account to prevent further displacement and protect innocent lives caught in the crossfire.
