A tragic event unfolded on Tuesday in Gaza City as the Israeli Army carried out a bombing against the Shati refugee camp in the north of the Strip. Reports indicate that around 15 people lost their lives in the attack, including one of the sisters of the leader of the political wing of Hamas, Ismail Haniye.

According to Palestinian newspaper ‘Filastin’, linked to the Islamist group, at least fourteen people died in the bombing, including Haniye’s sister and several of her relatives. This comes nearly two months after Israel killed three of Haniye’s children and four grandchildren in another bombing in Gaza. In a separate incident, at least twelve people, including children, died in a bombing at a school used as a shelter for those displaced by Israel’s offensive.

The Israeli Army has taken responsibility for the bombings in Shati and Darj Tupa, citing that the buildings targeted were used by Hamas terrorists. They claimed that the terrorists were planning attacks against Israel and used the school as a shield for their activities. The Army has stated that they used precise weaponry to minimize damage to non-involved persons.

It is noted that Hamas has been accused of violating International Law by using civilian buildings and populations as human shields for their terrorist activities. However, the Israeli Army has not provided information on the identities of those killed in the bombings or confirmed the involvement of Haniye’s sister. The situation continues to escalate in Gaza as tensions remain high between the two opposing sides.
