Six deans from medical faculties at Israeli universities have come to an agreement on the format for admitting new students in the 2024/2025 academic year. This decision was made in response to the challenges faced by many potential medical students due to ongoing military conscription activities and evacuations in the country. These circumstances have put certain groups of the population in unequal conditions when it comes to applying to medical schools.

As a result, the admission format will be changed to accommodate these challenges. Reservists will be exempt from the entrance exam for knowledge as part of a separate quota for incoming reservists. Similarly, spouses of reservists will also receive concessions during the admission process.

This decision aims to level the playing field for those impacted by military conscription and evacuations, ensuring that individuals who wish to pursue a career in medicine have a fair opportunity to do so. These changes will help create a more inclusive and supportive environment for aspiring medical students in Israel.
