Israeli Soldier Killed in Battle in Southern Gaza Strip

The Israeli army confirmed the death of a soldier in clashes with Hamas and other Palestinian factions in the southern Gaza Strip on Thursday as part of the invasion unleashed after the attacks of October 7. The deceased soldier was identified as Eyal Shynes, a 19-year-old member of the 931st Battalion of the Nahal Brigade. This brings the total number of Israeli soldiers killed in combat to over 315 since the start of the offensive following the attacks, which resulted in nearly 1,200 deaths and 240 kidnappings.

The Gazan authorities, controlled by Hamas, have reported over 37,700 deaths from the offensive against the Strip. Additionally, more than 520 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in operations by Israeli forces or attacks perpetrated by settlers.
