Israel’s escalating attacks force more than 110,000 Palestinians to flee Rafah

The United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has reported that approximately 110,000 Palestinians have fled from the city of Rafah in the last four days due to increased bombing and a military incursion by Israel. The agency emphasized that living conditions for these displaced individuals are dire and there is no safe haven in sight. As the Israeli Army continues its bombing campaign against the city, the forced displacement of residents persists. UNRWA has called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further escalation of the crisis.

On the other hand, the Israeli Army has confirmed operations in Rafah, where they claim to have discovered multiple tunnels. They have engaged with terrorist squads and targeted areas from which projectiles and mortars were launched towards Israeli territory. In Gaza City, the Army has also dismantled terrorist infrastructure and eliminated terrorists affiliated with Hamas. The Israeli Army has carried out bombings on multiple targets, including military buildings, observation posts, and tunnels across the Gaza Strip.

The international community is increasingly concerned about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Rafah, exacerbated by the suspension of humanitarian operations at the Rafah crossing. President Joe Biden has warned against sending weapons to Israel if they escalate incursions into Rafah, potentially harming civilians. The situation remains volatile as both sides engage in military operations, worsening the plight of Palestinian refugees who have sought shelter in Rafah.
