Jayson Tatum named to the All-NBA First Team for the 2023-24 season

The 2023-24 All-NBA teams were announced before Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, with the Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum being the team’s sole representative. Tatum was selected to the All-NBA First Team for the third consecutive year, becoming the first Celtics player to achieve this since the legendary Larry Bird.

Tatum had an impressive season, averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and a career-best 4.9 assists per game. He shot 47.1 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from 3-point range. While Tatum made the first team, his teammate Jaylen Brown narrowly missed out on being voted onto the All-NBA Third Team. Brown received 50 voting points, 20 less than the lowest vote-getter on the third team, Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns.

Last year, Brown earned second-team All-NBA honors, showcasing his talent on the court. This season, he averaged 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, shooting 49.9 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from behind the arc. Brown also received three All-Defensive first-team votes for his efforts on both ends of the floor.

Tatum and Brown’s outstanding performances were key factors in helping the Celtics achieve the league’s best record at 64-18. With seven wins away from potentially securing their first championship since 2008, the Celtics are in good standing after defeating the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
