A joint planning team consisting of the Jerusalem Municipality and the Ministry of Transport has recently put out a tender for a feasibility study and preliminary design of three metro lines in the Israeli capital. The terms of the tender specify that the design work for the new metro lines should be completed by the end of 2026. While this is an ambitious timeline, the goal is to have construction of the metro lines begin by 2040. This timeline allows for the necessary planning and design work to be completed before groundbreaking starts.
