Starting this fall, JetBlue will now include a carry-on bag with its Basic Economy fares. This new feature will be available for all Blue Basic tickets, regardless of when they were purchased. JetBlue President, Marty St. George, expressed the importance of carry-on bags to travelers and emphasized JetBlue’s commitment to providing excellent service compared to other carriers.
With the addition of a carry-on bag, Blue Basic passengers will be allowed to bring one carry-on bag and a personal item on board. However, checked bags will still incur an additional fee, with the first and second bags costing $65 extra and a third bag costing $180. If overhead bin space runs out, passengers will be required to check their carry-on bag at no extra charge.
This new policy brings JetBlue in line with competitors such as American Airlines, United, and Delta, who also offer one free carry-on and personal item with their basic fares. United stands out for allowing a free checked bag on international flights across the Pacific Ocean. JetBlue’s decision to include a carry-on bag with Basic Economy fares reflects their commitment to improving the customer experience and remaining competitive in the industry.
