John Deere is seeking a Chief Tractor Officer through a competition to assist in launching the company’s new TikTok channel. Entries for this position will be accepted until April 29, with finalists selected after May 17. The winner will receive up to $192,300 to travel across the country and showcase how John Deere products are used by workers in various settings.
The global director of strategic public relations at John Deere, Jen Hartmann, emphasized the impact that construction workers, farmers, and lawn care maintenance groups have on our daily lives. To kick off the search for the Chief Tractor Officer, NFL quarterback Brock Purdy was featured in a promotional video. However, it is unlikely that Purdy will be able to take on the role due to his commitments during the football season.
This is the first time that the 187-year-old company has used celebrities to promote itself. According to the contest rules, entrants must reside in the 48 contiguous states or Washington, DC, and AI-generated submissions are prohibited. Entrants have until April 29 to submit a 60-second video pitching why they should be chosen for the Chief Tractor Officer position. Five finalists will be selected and notified after May 17 based on criteria such as originality, creativity, quality, and brand knowledge.
