John Michael Schmitz of the Giants listed as one of the worst starting centers in the NFL

New York Giants center John Michael Schmitz, a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, had a disappointing rookie season. Due to injury, he missed four games and was rated as the worst center in the league. However, not all of the struggles can be solely attributed to Schmitz. The team faced continuous injuries, with players rotating in at guard and tackle throughout the season. This led to the Giants finishing with the second-worst offensive line in NFL history, allowing 85 sacks that resulted in injuries to all three quarterbacks.

In a recent Pro Football Focus ranking, Schmitz was named one of the worst players in the league. Despite the challenges he faced in his rookie season, the Giants are hopeful that Schmitz can improve in his second year. To address some of the team’s issues, the Giants brought in veteran guards Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor to play alongside Schmitz.
