Joint electric sports car project between Lotus and Alpine gets cancelled.

Lotus and Alpine recently put a stop to their joint electric sports car project, according to Automotive News Europe. The companies had agreed to work together to develop a lightweight electric sports car in 2021, which would feature technology from both firms and take over from the Alpine A110. The original announcement of the project included positive comments from former Lotus CEO Phil Popham, who declared that the two companies had much in common, and that it was the first step towards a profitable partnership. The cancellation of the project does not signify the end of collaboration between the two firms, as they have stated that they will continue to explore other future opportunities.

Lotus is keen to emphasize its ongoing commitment to electric sports cars.
