After evaluating the performance of the New York Giants last season, general manager Joe Schoen recognized the urgent need to strengthen the team’s offensive line. This led to the swift acquisition of two experienced players, Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor, to address a significant weakness. Runyan is expected to assume a key role between center John Michael Schmitz and left tackle Evan Neal, who are both young but highly skilled players.

During the team’s ninth OTA session, head coach Brian Daboll spoke highly of Runyan’s adaptability and professionalism, emphasizing the importance of effective communication among the offensive linemen. Runyan also praised Schmitz and Neal for their maturity and dedication to the game, highlighting Schmitz’s precision in directing the offensive line and Neal’s attentiveness to the team’s strategies.

Despite facing some challenges with Neal’s absence from team practice sessions, Runyan appreciated Neal’s commitment to recovery and learning the team’s offensive schemes. With the addition of new unit coach Carmen Bricillo, who aligns well with Daboll’s coaching style, and the enhanced communication within the offensive line, the Giants are poised for improved performance in the upcoming season. By addressing key weaknesses and fostering a cohesive team dynamic, the Giants aim to significantly reduce the number of sacks allowed in 2024.
