Julis Randle of the Knicks set to have shoulder surgery, will miss remainder of playoffs

Julius Randle of the New York Knicks had been working hard to avoid surgery on his dislocated shoulder since January 29th. He had hoped to return to the lineup for a playoff run, but unfortunately, that will not be the case. The team announced that Randle will undergo shoulder surgery and will be out for the remainder of the playoff run. However, he is expected to be back healthy for the start of next season.

Despite being cleared for individual work, it became increasingly clear that Randle’s return to the Knicks lineup was unlikely. He had visited two shoulder specialists who advised against him returning to play before undergoing surgery to prevent further injury and possible permanent damage. With the surgery, Randle is expected to make a full recovery.

Randle’s absence is a significant blow to the Knicks, who had high hopes for a deep playoff run after a successful stretch in January following the acquisition of OG Anunoby. Randle had been a key player for the team, averaging 24 points, 9.2 rebounds, and five assists per game. The team’s playoff hopes now rely heavily on Anunoby’s recovery from an elbow injury and the return of Mitchell Robinson, who has been limited by an ankle injury.

The Knicks will be looking to players like Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo to step up in Randle’s absence and continue their successful season into the playoffs. With a challenging first-round series against Orlando or Cleveland looming, the team will need to come together and overcome the loss of their star player.
