Derek Connolly, known for his work on Jurassic World and Detective Pikachu, has been selected to write the script for an upcoming Paramount film that will feature a crossover between Transformers and G.I. Joe, with Chris Hemsworth set to star.

This unique project will bring together two iconic toy lines, Transformers and G.I. Joe, showcasing the Autobots and Joes teaming up against their enemies, the Decepticons and Cobra. Although the characters have crossed paths in comic books before, this will mark the first time they will appear together on the big screen.

This film follows the events of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, where Anthony Ramos’ character received a job offer from the Joe team. The project is being produced by a team that includes Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy, with Steven Spielberg and Hasbro Entertainment serving as executive producers.

Connolly has worked closely with director Colin Trevorrow, starting with their breakout film Safety Not Guaranteed, which won multiple awards. He has since been involved in major franchises like Jurassic World, Star Wars, and Pokémon, showing his versatility as a screenwriter.

His recent projects also include the upcoming adaptation of The Legend of Zelda and he is represented by Verve and Ginsburg Daniels.
