Justin Lin’s Production Company to Create Film Based on Michèle Mouton’s Life

Apr 4, 2024

Perfect Storm Entertainment, led by Justin Lin, has acquired the life rights of World Rally Vice champion Michèle Mouton. The company plans to develop a biopic based on her life story. The idea for the project stemmed from the success of Drum Studio’s documentary, The Queen of Speed, which won the International Emmy for Best Sports Documentary in 2022.

The biopic will trace Mouton’s journey as she rose to prominence in the male-dominated world of rally racing in the 1970s and ’80s. Despite facing obstacles, Mouton made a name for herself as she competed in races around the world, from Monte Carlo to Africa and Pikes Peak in Colorado. She became a trailblazer in the motorsport world during the Group B era, where she achieved the remarkable feat of winning four FIA World Rally Championship races. Mouton’s accomplishments solidified her status as one of the greatest motorsport drivers in history, as she remains the only woman to have won a World Rally Championship race.

The project will be produced by Perfect Storm Entertainment, with Justin Lin, Andrew Schneider, and Sal Gatdula serving as producers. Andy Holland and Jessica Sinclair from Drum Studios will also be involved in the production. Mouton and her daughter, Jessie Johnsson-Lüthy, will serve as executive producers on the biopic.

Perfect Storm Entertainment has a diverse slate of projects in the works, including the independent film The Last Days of John Allen Chau, the Apple series Two For The Money starring Charlize Theron and Daniel Craig, the Participant Media film Abacus, and the adaptation of the manga classic One Punch Man for Sony. In addition, the company has TV projects such as the action-adventure series Seven Wonders for Amazon Prime and The Islands for Peacock. They will also produce Infinite Thread and an untitled Joshua Troke project for Universal Television.
