Serie A giants Juventus are in search of alternatives to Italian international defender Riccardo Calafiori as Bologna is refusing to lower their asking price for him. The new Juventus manager, Thiago Motta, is eager to bring his former player from Bologna to Turin but the two clubs are struggling to reach an agreement.
Calafiori, who is currently focused on Italy’s upcoming match against Croatia at Euro 2024, has decided to put discussions about his future on hold until after the championship. Having started his career in the youth ranks at Roma, Calafiori had an impressive season, helping Bologna secure a spot in the Champions League for the first time.
Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport via tuttomercatoweb suggest that Motta is growing impatient and may abandon his pursuit of Calafiori in favor of another player he previously coached, Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior. Motta and Kiwior worked together during their time at Spezia and the 24-year-old could become a surprising addition to the Juventus squad under Motta’s management.
