Kansas man apprehended while fleeing the scene of a business burglary

Law enforcement officials in Shawnee County are currently investigating a suspect who was arrested on multiple charges. The arrest occurred just before 2:30 a.m. on June 6 when police were called to respond to a burglary alarm at a business located at 405 NW Lyman in Topeka. Police Lt. Manuel Munoz stated that officers arrived at the scene and observed an individual inside the business engaged in burglary activities. The suspect attempted to flee the scene through a side door but was apprehended a short distance away.

Following the investigation, the suspect was identified as Donald R. Koch, a 46-year-old resident of Topeka. Koch was taken into custody and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. The charges filed against Koch include Burglary, Criminal damage to property, Felony Interference with LEO; obstruction, Possession of opiate, opium, narcotic, or certain stimulant, and Possession of drug paraphernalia. The investigation into the case is ongoing as law enforcement officials work to gather more information.
