Karsten Warholm has kicked off his outdoor Olympic athletics season with a strong performance. The current Olympic champion in the 400m hurdles participated in a rare 300m hurdle race at the Trond Mohn Games in Bergen, Norway, a Continental Tour silver-level event. Despite not running the distance often, Warholm finished first with a time of 33.28, just shy of his world record of 33.26 set in 2021.
His fellow Norwegian, Andreas Haara Bakketun, finished second with a time of 35.43. Warholm concluded his indoor season with a silver medal in the 400m flat race in early March, coming in second to Alexander Doom. In addition to his success in the 300m hurdles, Warholm is also the world record holder in the 400m hurdles with a time of 45.94 set at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 2021. He will aim to defend his title in the event, a feat that has not been accomplished by any man since Glenn Davis in 1956 and 1960.
