Ziff Davis, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZD) has appointed Kate Gutman as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of its technology media group, which includes popular brands like PCMag, Mashable, Lifehacker, and Spiceworks. Gutman will be reporting to Steve Horowitz, the president of Ziff Davis’ Technology and Shopping Division. Horowitz expressed enthusiasm about Gutman joining the team, highlighting her experience in leading editorial organizations, audience building, and revenue growth as key assets that will drive innovation and expand the reach of the company’s influential brands.
In her previous role at Gannett as the Senior Vice President of Content Ventures, Gutman oversaw a range of digital growth businesses and new ventures aimed at attracting new audiences, increasing organic revenue, and expanding traditional revenue streams through initiatives like affiliate commerce, video, and brand licensing. Prior to Gannett, she also led the digital business for A+E Television Networks International, where she spearheaded efforts to grow digital revenue through content distribution, launched the company’s first international SVOD service, and re-launched the History En Espanol TV channel domestically.
Earlier in her career, Gutman held senior digital and business strategy positions at Reader’s Digest/Trusted Brands, Rodale, Bertelsmann, and Lagardère Group. She is a graduate of Columbia University, with an M.B.A. in management and a B.A. in economics.
