Kauppalehti appoints Kreeta Karvala as their new Brussels correspondent

Kauppalehti has selected Kreeta Karvala as their next Brussels correspondent, who currently works in the politics and editorial department of Iltalehti. Karvala will assume the position in November and is enthusiastic and grateful for the opportunity. Saara Koho, the current Brussels correspondent for Kauppalehti, has been handling the role since 2021.

Karvala is an experienced news reporter, having worked at Yleisradio and Iltalehti, and is a familiar face on TV current affairs programs where she analyzes Finnish politics. Editor-in-chief Riina Nevalainen is pleased to have Karvala join the editorial team, citing her experience and qualifications. Throughout her career, Karvala has won several journalistic awards, including the Suomen Kuvalehti Journalism Award in 2023.

As the new Brussels correspondent, Karvala will cover EU decision-making, the European economy, monetary policy, and EU institutions. Current topics of interest include defense and security policy, NATO, Ukraine support, climate policy, and Europe’s competitiveness in the face of economic competition. The monetary policy of the European Central Bank also impacts the lives and finances of all Finns.
