Kentucky baseball found itself trailing for the first time in six games during the NCAA Tournament. However, the team still managed to come out with a victory, maintaining their winning streak. In their first-ever game at the College World Series, Kentucky blew a 3-1 lead and fell behind N.C. State 4-3 entering the bottom of the ninth inning. Leadoff batter Ryan Nicholson hit a solo home run to tie the game at 4-4. The Wildcats then secured a 5-4 win in 10 innings with Mitchell Daly hitting a solo homer in the bottom of the 10th.

The dramatic come-from-behind victory in extra innings preserved Kentucky’s six-game win streak. The team has not lost since May 24 when they were defeated by South Carolina in the SEC Tournament semifinals. With this win, Kentucky (46-14) advances in the winner’s bracket and will face the winner of the Florida vs. Texas A&M game scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday. The loser of Monday’s game will see their season come to an end.

N.C. State (38-22) will play an elimination game at 2 p.m. Monday against the loser of the Florida vs. Texas A&M matchup. The loser of Monday’s game will also see their season conclude.
