Wigan Athletic defender Jason Kerr, who has played six times for Scotland Under-21, has signed a new two-year contract at the Brick Community Stadium. The 27-year-old, who joined from St Johnstone in August 2021, played a key role in helping Wigan secure the League One title in his first season with the club. Despite being sidelined by injuries for over a year, Kerr returned to action and played 15 games last season.

“I’m absolutely over the moon to extend my stay with Wigan Athletic,” Kerr said. “I’ve really enjoyed my football under the gaffer [Sean Maloney] in the last couple of months, and I’m very excited about what the future holds.” Kerr expressed his gratitude to the club for their support during a tough period in his career and expressed his commitment to giving back to those who have supported him. He also emphasized his desire to continue supporting his teammates on and off the field, as well as helping the squad achieve success in the upcoming season.

Wigan Athletic, who finished 12th in League One last season, have a young and talented group of players who are determined to progress and have another successful season. Kerr’s new contract solidifies his commitment to the club and his belief in the team’s potential for growth and achievement in the future.
