Kettering Health expands mental health services in Dayton with the addition of new programs and resources.

Kettering Health Behavioral Medicine has recently expanded its mental health services by introducing an Intensive Outpatient Program at its Miamisburg location. This expansion was made with the intention of meeting the needs of residents in south Dayton. According to Julie Manuel, clinical program manager at Kettering Health Behavioral Medical Center, the demand for high-quality mental health services is increasing every day due to an ongoing mental health crisis. By offering the Intensive Outpatient Program in Miamisburg, the health system hopes to provide a new access point for patients to navigate the mental health system and their diagnosis more effectively.

The program is described as comprehensive and individualized, with a focus on various areas such as mood management, interpersonal interactions, triggers, destructive impulses and behaviors, personal goals, and coping skills. Throughout the program, patients will have the opportunity to participate in both group and individual sessions with trained clinicians. Mike Rabuka, administrative director of Kettering Health Behavioral Medical Center, emphasizes the importance of making behavioral health services easily accessible in communities to help patients apply the skills learned in the program successfully.

This expansion aims to not only bring much-needed services closer to home but also facilitate better collaboration between care teams. This will enable patients to transition seamlessly through their behavioral health care journey, ultimately leading to fewer emergency visits and hospitalizations.
