Two undefeated boys soccer teams in WPIAL Class 2A will face off on Tuesday for first place in their section. South Park currently holds the top spot in Section 2-2A with a 4-0 section record and 6-0 overall record. They are just half a game ahead of East Allegheny. Although East Allegheny has not lost this season, they have a 3-0-1 section record and a 4-0-1 overall record after a tie last week against Elizabeth Forward. South Park shut out East Allegheny twice last year, with final scores of 1-0 and 2-0.
In addition to this matchup, there are several other important boys soccer matches taking place on Tuesday in the district. In Section 1-6A, undefeated North Allegheny (4-0, 7-0) will visit Fox Chapel (3-1, 4-1). Montour (4-0, 4-0) will host South Fayette (3-0-2, 4-0-2) in a battle for first place in Section 2-3A. Seton LaSalle (3-0-1) will travel to Serra Catholic (4-1), where both teams are undefeated in Section 4-A.
The two girls volleyball teams that competed for the district championship in Class 4A last year will face each other in their section opener on Tuesday. Defending champion Pine-Richland will begin Section 1-4A action with a game against North Allegheny. Pine-Richland surprised North Allegheny in a five-game match last year, ending their two-year reign as champions. Lebanon hosting Canon-McMillan in Section 2, and Penn-Trafford at Hempfield and Fox Chapel hosting Shaler in Section 3.
