In the recent match, John McGinn won five fouls, the most by a Scotland player in a major tournament game since Christian Dailly won six against Norway at the 1998 World Cup. On the other hand, Grant Hanley completed 69 passes against Hungary, making it the highest number of passes by a Scotland player in a major tournament game that Opta has on record (since 1974 World Cup). Hanley also had more touches in the opposition box than any other Scottish player, with four touches.

Scotland made history by completing 249 passes in the first half, the highest number of passes they have completed in the first half of a major tournament match on record (since 1974 World Cup). Interestingly, Scotland failed to have a shot in the first half of the match against both Germany and Hungary at Euro 2024, making them the only team in the tournament to do so.

Hungary broke their dry spell by winning their first match since their 2-0 victory over Austria at Euro 2016, marking their first clean sheet since then as well. On the other hand, Scotland only had a total of 17 shots at Euro 2024, tying with Northern Ireland at Euro 2016 for the fewest shots by a team in a group stage.

The 100th-minute goal scored by Kevin Csoboth for Hungary was the latest goal ever scored in a European Championship match (excluding extra time), timed at 99 minutes and 32 seconds. In their 12th major tournament group stage, Scotland have failed to win a single match in 50% of those appearances, including the 1954, 1958, 1986, and 1998 World Cups, as well as Euro 2020 and 2024.
