Khan in negotiations to compete in crossover Misfits event

Former light-welterweight world champion Amir Khan, who shot to fame after winning silver at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, is currently in talks to fight on a Misfits card. The 37-year-old Briton is rumored to be considering a bout against YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI. Misfits, which was set up by KSI and promotional partners Wasserman Boxing, is known for its sports entertainment product.

Khan, who was handed a two-year doping ban following his fight against Kell Brook in February 2022, has now completed his suspension. He recently hinted on social media that negotiations were underway with KSI and expressed interest in fighting YouTuber Jake Paul in the future. Critics argue that Misfits, known for its crossover boxing events involving social media stars and celebrities, damages the integrity of the sport with gimmick tag-team fights.

It remains unclear which governing body will oversee a potential Misfits card featuring Khan, as the organisation has parted ways with the Professional Boxing Association. Khan, who previously held a boxing license with the British Boxing Board of Control, had most of his fights overseen by that governing body. KSI, whose real name is Olajide William Olatunji, won his pro boxing debut against Logan Paul in 2019 but suffered a loss to Tommy Fury in 2023.

Khan retired from boxing in May 2022 with a record of 34 wins and six losses.
