Kings Pursued Caruso Trade in Search for ‘Significant’ Roster Upgrade, Report Reveals

The Kings have their eyes set on making a significant roster upgrade this offseason. After extending head coach Mike Brown’s contract and signing Malik Monk to a four-year, $78 million deal, Sacramento is actively exploring both the free-agent and trade markets. The team was reportedly close to a trade with the Chicago Bulls for guard Alex Caruso before he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for guard Josh Giddey.

According to sources, the Kings’ offer for Caruso involved the No. 13 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Despite missing out on Caruso, Sacramento is still determined to make a significant roster upgrade this offseason. The team is said to have some level of interest in a potential trade for Bulls star guard Zach LaVine. However, any deal for LaVine would require the Kings to be incentivized to take on the remaining three years and $137.8 million on his contract.

As Sacramento continues to explore trade options, they are keeping their first-round pick on the table as a potential trade asset. The team is focused on finding the missing piece that could propel them towards a championship. While it is uncertain which other star players may become available in offseason trades, the Kings are committed to doing their due diligence to improve their roster.
