During her visit to Fairmont on Saturday, Senator Amy Klobuchar toured the current law enforcement center and discussed the need for funding for a new public safety and justice center. County Commissioners Kathy Smith and Steve Flors, along with other local leaders, were in attendance. Klobuchar was given a tour of the center’s office space and recognized the need for more space and improved operations. The county has been actively working to secure funding for the new Regional Public Safety Justice Center since 2018, and Klobuchar’s support has helped move the project forward. As a former county attorney, Klobuchar appreciates the efforts of those working in law enforcement and thanked everyone who has contributed to raising funds for the project. The county is also seeking $12.7 million from state lawmakers, and members of the Senate Capitol Investment Committee will be touring the law enforcement center on October 5th.
