New Michigan basketball coach Dusty May has added another member to his staff from his previous program at Florida Atlantic. The Wolverines announced on Friday that they have hired KT Harrell as the director of basketball operations. Harrell previously held the same position at Florida Atlantic under May’s leadership since 2022.

May expressed his excitement about working with Harrell again, praising his ability to connect and communicate with players. Harrell brings with him a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach. He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Auburn, where he had previously played college basketball before transferring from Virginia.

During his time at Florida Atlantic, Harrell was part of the staff that led the team to consecutive 25-win seasons, a Final Four appearance, and a conference championship. His experience and dedication to the game have made him a valuable addition to the Michigan coaching staff.

Harrell is thrilled about the opportunity to work at the University of Michigan, describing it as a prestigious institution. He expressed gratitude for the chance to work with Coach May again and praised May’s dedication to the game and his players. Harrell looks forward to supporting the staff and players in their pursuit of excellence both on and off the court.

Harrell joins a coaching staff at Michigan that includes several former Florida Atlantic assistants, as well as coaches from other programs such as Saint Mary’s, Georgia, and Oklahoma State. The combination of experience and talent on the coaching staff bodes well for the Wolverines as they prepare for the upcoming season.
