Kyle Whittingham of Utah Tops Big 12 Coach Rankings in 2024; Deion Sanders of Colorado Lands Near Bottom of List

The Big 12 is experiencing some coaching changes for the 2024 season as Oklahoma’s Brent Venables and Texas’ Steve Sarkisian bid farewell, while five new coaches join the league. Out of the 12 incumbent programs, 11 have retained their coaches from 2023, with Houston being the exception as Willie Fritz takes over the Cougars from Tulane.

Among the new coaches coming into the Big 12, Utah’s Kyle Whittingham has seen the most success in the Pac-12. Deion Sanders is set to make waves as he leads Colorado back into the league. Coaches Brent Brennan of Arizona and Kenny Dillingham of Arizona State are eager to establish their teams as Power Four winners.

While the Big 12 may not have any clear national title contenders, it boasts several solid programs led by experienced coaches. The league had eight coaches ranked in the top 30 of the 2024 CBS Sports Power Four coach rankings, putting it on par with the Big Ten and SEC.
