Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre has announced that Joshua Deruise, a 31-year-old man from Lafayette, has been charged with burglary at a Golden Meadow business. The investigation is still ongoing, and Deruise is facing multiple burglary charges.

On September 8, 2023, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office started collaborating after receiving reports of suspect vehicles connected to burglaries at a business in Golden Meadow earlier in the week. During the investigation, Joshua Deruise emerged as a suspect, and it was discovered that he had an active warrant for burglary in Lafayette Parish.

Deputies from Lafayette Parish conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that matched the description of Deruise’s vehicle, which did not have a license plate. They confirmed that he was the driver and found the license plate inside the vehicle. Following the issuance of a search warrant, detectives from both agencies searched the vehicle and collected various pieces of evidence related to the burglary at the Lafourche Parish business. The collected items included stolen goods from the burglary.

Deruise was arrested by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and taken to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on an active warrant for simple burglary. Additionally, he is being held on charges from Lafourche Parish after detectives obtained a warrant for two counts of simple burglary. His bail amount on all charges totals $502,500.

The case is still under investigation, and there is a possibility of more charges and arrests.

Please note that, according to Article 234 of the Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure, a booking photo for this arrest cannot be released.
