LAFC progresses to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup

LAFC forward Cristian Olivera scored a goal during Tuesday night’s match, helping the team advance to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals for the third time in club history. The team secured a 3-0 victory against Loudoun United, a USL Championship division team, at BMO Stadium.

Timmy Tillman opened the scoring for LAFC early in the eighth minute, maintaining the lead until the second half when Cristian Olivera found the back of the net in the 52nd minute. Tomás Ángel added another goal in the 61st minute to seal the victory for LAFC.

Loudoun United is based in Leesburg, Va., located in Loudoun County. LAFC’s opponent in the quarterfinal round will be determined on Wednesday night during a live draw on U.S. Soccer’s YouTube channel. The quarterfinal match is scheduled to take place on July 9 or 10.
