Latest Titans Injury News: Updates on T’Vondre Sweat and Jeffery Simmons

Tennessee Titans second-round draft pick and defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat has been sidelined with an injury since rookie minicamp and was also absent from the first day of mandatory minicamp. Head coach Brian Callahan assured the media that Sweat’s absence is not long term and he is expected to be back by training camp, at the latest. There is a possibility he could return for the final sessions of organized team activities next week. However, the nature of Sweat’s injury was not disclosed by Callahan.

Another defensive lineman, Jeffery Simmons, has also been sitting out of the voluntary portion of the offseason program due to a short-term injury. Callahan did not provide details on Simmons’ injury but indicated that he is expected to be ready for the upcoming season.

While Simmons’ absence may not be a cause for concern given his experience, Sweat’s situation is different. The Titans are hoping he can contribute as a starter in his rookie year, but missed practice time may hinder his ability to adapt and fulfill that role early on. Although it seems Sweat’s injury is not severe, the sooner he returns to practice, the better for his development.
