Dora Aguilar, an immigrant from Guatemala, has achieved the American dream by running a successful day care in Randolph, Massachusetts. Her business was recognized as one of the ‘businesses of the year’ last year, and she is incredibly proud of this achievement. Aguilar struggled to find day care for her first child after moving to Massachusetts in 1994, which led her to realize that she could start her own family day care business.

In 2001, Aguilar founded Bright Beginner’s Day Care, which operated for years without significant growth. She later became part of the Amplify LatinX small business program, which helps passionate business owners gain the necessary skills to run successful businesses. Eneida Roman, the president and CEO of Amplify LatinX, noted that many entrepreneurs have a passion for their work but lack the expertise needed to run a business effectively.

The program helps small business owners identify and address their areas of weakness, such as tax filing, marketing, bookkeeping, and forecasting. Aguilar enrolled in the program and saw a significant increase in profits, leading her to plan an expansion of her business. She highly recommends the program to others who may be struggling with their own businesses.

Aguilar encourages aspiring entrepreneurs not to be afraid to seek assistance from programs like Amplify LatinX. By reaching out to experts and learning from others, individuals can gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their businesses.
