Latvia stands out as a leader among EU Member States in terms of the proportion of women employed in science and technology. This category includes occupations involved in the generation, advancement, diffusion, and application of scientific and technological knowledge, as well as technicians and associated professionals.

The regions with the highest shares of women employed in science and technology occupations in 2022 were Lithuania, the French region of Corse, and Latvia. On the other hand, the regions with the smallest proportions of females employed in science and technology were the Italian region of Nord-Ovest, Malta, and the Italian region of Sud.

This data was released to coincide with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, observed on February 11th.
