An audiobook company, represented by Chandran Iyer, Ronald Daignault, and Kevin Sprenger of intellectual property firm Daignault Iyer, recently filed three patent infringement lawsuits in the Eastern District of Virginia against Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and Audible.
The company, Audio Pod IP, claims to have invented several key media streaming technologies after being founded in 2005. These innovations include segmenting and sequencing streaming files to bypass long download times for large files, bookmarking digital content for pausing and resuming later, and launching a subscriber-paid streaming service in 2006. The complaint references a January 2008 front-page article in the Ottawa Citizen to support its assertion of early success.
The lawsuits accuse Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and Audible of infringing on Audio Pod IP’s patents related to these technologies. The company is seeking damages for the alleged infringement. Chandran Iyer, Ronald Daignault, and Kevin Sprenger are representing Audio Pod IP in these legal actions.
