Lazio has begun talks with Manchester United regarding a potential transfer for Mason Greenwood, who is no longer needed at Old Trafford. Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Italian club has taken the lead in negotiations over Serie A rivals Juventus by reaching out to United to reach a deal for the 22-year-old player.
Manchester United currently values Greenwood at €30M, which may be too high for Lazio to afford. Despite an initial rejection from United on an offer of €20M plus a 50% share in any future sale, Lazio is said to be persistent in their pursuit of the player. The club is seeking a replacement for Felipe Anderson, who is leaving this summer after six years with Lazio.
Greenwood spent the last season on loan at Getafe in Spain, where he scored eight goals in 33 La Liga matches. Juventus is also reportedly interested in the young player, but Lazio seems to be making a strong effort to secure his services for the upcoming season.
