Faculty and staff at WVU are encouraged to participate in a virtual Mental Health 101 Training, which will be hosted by WELLWVU and the Carruth Center. The training sessions will take place on June 13 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or on July 16 from noon to 1:30 p.m. This 90-minute training will cover important topics related to mental health and student wellness.

The training will cover current national mental health statistics and WVU-specific characteristics, as well as effective listening skills. Participants will also receive an in-depth look at the services offered by the Carruth Center and the CARE Team, including warning signs of suicide and how to intervene safely with students who may be in distress.

Faculty and staff who attend the training will gain valuable knowledge and skills to better support students who may be struggling with mental health issues. This training is an important opportunity for faculty and staff to learn how they can help students in distress and contribute to a supportive campus community.
