The Lakers have been dealing with LeBron James’ ankle injury, specifically his left ankle peroneal tendinopathy, for some time now. He has missed games both before and after the All-Star break to give his foot more time to heal. As a result, he will not be playing in the upcoming game against the Milwaukee Bucks, which is set to be televised nationally.

Currently, the Lakers are in desperate need of wins as they are sitting at ninth place in the Western Conference with a record of 39-32. They are 2.5 games behind the Phoenix Suns, who are in the eighth seed (although the Lakers have clinched the tiebreaker). To secure a playoff spot, the Lakers need to win at least 7 out of their final 11 games and hope that the Suns lose 6 or more. If they can manage to go 8-3, they would jump ahead of the Suns.

LeBron James remains a key player for the Lakers, even in his 21st NBA season at the age of 39. His performance is crucial to the team’s success, as he sets the tone for their energy and competitiveness. When he is playing at his best, the Lakers are a formidable opponent, but if he is not at the top of his game, they struggle to compete.

Without LeBron, the team will have to rely more heavily on players like Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell, and Spencer Dinwiddie to create scoring opportunities. This will be a challenging task, especially against a Bucks team that has improved defensively under their new coach, Doc Rivers. The Lakers will need to find a way to win games without their star player in order to secure a playoff spot.
