The Dallas Cowboys announced the sudden passing of Pro Football Hall of Famer Larry Allen while on vacation in Mexico with his family. He was 52 years old. Allen was known for his great athleticism and incredible strength, making him one of the most respected and accomplished offensive linemen in NFL history. His versatility and dependability were also key characteristics of his career, serving as an inspiration to many other players.
Allen, who played 12 out of his 14 NFL seasons with the Cowboys, was a dominant force on the field. He was a seven-time First-team NFL All-Pro and an 11-time Pro Bowler at both guard and tackle. He helped the Cowboys win Super Bowl XXX in 1996. His exceptional skills earned him a spot on the NFL All-Decade team for both the 1990s and 2000s.
After spending his final two NFL seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, Allen retired with the Cowboys in 2009 by signing a one-day contract. In 2013, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a first-ballot inductee. Allen was deeply loved and cared for by his family – his wife Janelle, daughters Jayla and Loriana, and son Larry III. The Jones family and the Cowboys extended their deepest condolences to the Allen family and all who knew and loved Larry.
Memorial service arrangements for Allen will be announced at a later date. His legacy as one of the most incredible athletes in NFL history will continue to inspire generations of players and fans alike.
