After being struck by lightning, a 30-year-old woman has regained consciousness following two days of emergency treatment. However, her condition remains serious, with burns in the shape of the necklace she was wearing around her neck. The patient, who is currently on a ventilator, continues to be monitored closely by medical staff at Agricultural General Hospital.
Doctors at the hospital consulted with specialists from National Burn Hospital to develop a treatment plan for the patient, who sustained severe burns on her face and chest. The lightning strike occurred while the woman was cutting vegetables in a field, and she was immediately given first aid by her family before being taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Lightning is an electrical discharge that can strike anywhere or anyone when certain conditions are present. To prevent lightning strikes, it is recommended to seek shelter indoors when storms are approaching, especially when thunder is heard. If outdoors, it is advised to avoid open areas, bodies of water, and tall structures. Stooping close to the ground and keeping away from concrete walls or floors can help reduce the risk of injury from lightning strikes.
Understanding weather conditions and taking precautions can help prevent accidents caused by lightning strikes. By being aware of safety measures and seeking shelter during storms, individuals can reduce the likelihood of being struck by lightning.
