Framestore Company 3 Group (FC3) has recently appointed Lincoln Wallen as its new group chief technology officer. The company is well-known for its expertise in color grading and has worked on high-profile projects such as “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Wicked,” “Transformers: One,” and “Despicable Me.” The latter two films will have special presentations at the Annecy Animation Festival.

In his new role, Wallen will be responsible for seeking and fostering new strategic partnerships across business, technology, and academia. He will also focus on strengthening existing partnerships with studios, institutions, and brands to maximize their properties. Working closely with Framestore CEO Mel Sullivan and Company 3 Group CEO Stefan Sonnenfeld, Wallen aims to leverage technology and innovation to enhance the creative process, media business, and consumer experience within the company.

With a background in artificial intelligence and a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, Wallen previously served as CTO at Improbable, a UK-based software company specializing in complex simulations for various markets. According to FC3 Chairman William Sargent, Wallen’s appointment comes at a critical time for the industry as companies seek to scale their businesses through compelling storytelling and technological advancements. Sargent is confident that Wallen’s strategic mindset and ambition will be instrumental in forging new partnerships and navigating the evolving technological landscape for the benefit of FC3, its collaborators, and clients.
